Remember when

When we were kids

And we would fight

Over silly things

 

Like

Whose hair was softest

Like

Whose shoes shined brightest

Like who had more friends

Like who mommy loved best

 

And now

We are living lies

Passing out promises

 As if they could be found

 Under our feet

 

What's goin' on

Thought I knew you better

Remember when we were kids

 We fought to be happy

 

People said it was all in

 Growing Up

 

No one ever knew

 We were fighting each other

 

Guess we fooled them, huh?

 Didn't we?
