Vanity

Vanity

A Poem by TTBoy28

There once was a Man

 who stood behind his

 religion

whenever he committed

 a sin

He always felt justified

in the eyes of his fellow

 brethren

One day

 he had an accident

 and met his maker

The Man just knew he was

 going to Heaven

As he was given permission

 to pass

He began to hear a voice like His

He heard all the lies he

had told - and even saw a few images of those

 associated with them

Still, He knew he would see the light

He'd always dreamed of, heard spoken of

The voices continued for some time

until He yelled out,

"Is this ever going to stop?  Why do I keep hearing

Myself?

When will I see the light?"

The voice responded,

"But you were so peaceful with yourself

while you were down below.  I thought you'd want it to

continue.  Don't worry.  Relax.  you have all eternity here.

This is your reward."
