The Courtroom

The Courtroom

A Poem by TTBoy28

So, it's come to this

The years shared divulging

cravings and innuendoes

are but a ghost of intimacy past

No more ringing of the doorbell

having to respond to, "We got a call in..."

No more waking to every creek of the

floor

No more sleeping in a cold room

because you forgot to pay the heat bill

No more payphones

No more taxicabs

No more, "I'm okay"

when you raised your right hand

on my cover

Now, it's my turn...

"Do you swear to tell the truth,

the whole truth...?

There is something hauntingly beautiful here. I enjoy that there is spacing, it makes these lines stand out for me. Keep it up!
