Good morning

Good morning

A Poem by T.S. Ulmus

“Good morning”

Good morning?!
I'm already mourning this morning!
Without warning some alarm was
horning and blaring and beeping,
keeping me from sleeping,
not caring about me reaping dreams from my slumber.
While under the sheets in
pure wonder
of scenes that seemed
so real
the squeal of real life
came to me
With sharp corners
Without warning
I was turning and bearing
The weight of fate
Fickles and hate
Tearing my meek little soul
I woke to a hole with no goal
A stocking with coal
Good morning!!!
You would drop that on me?
On top of the fee
Assessed just to be
I request and I plea
Some stupid platitude
Your attitude is appalling
The real world was calling
And now I’m bawling
I’m tired
You just won’t let me sleep!
Good morning?!
Is the opposite of adorning
It’s thundering and roads are covered with black ice
It’d be nice if things were sunny
Funny, so long since I’ve even seen a bunny
Is it even a good morn?
I’m pretty forlorn
And It’s all your fault
Cuz the first thing you did
Was assault me with “Good morning” glee
Before morning coffee
“Good morning”?!
You suck.

I feel like to stay in your dreams ( as I do sometimes) and you are disturbed to awaken to the real world which is arguably awful, especially without your morning coffe. This definitely has some humor in it and flow very well, a nice pattern. Fondly, Betty

I find this an enjoyable whimsical writing that grabs one's attention and takes them through a morning routine that tends to put a smile on one's face. A fun read.

just don't want to wake to the real world...too unsatisfying...my world of dreams is safer, happier.
"let me be, let me be, to be what I want to" and that is someone sleeping away reality.

Nix, I love reading and reviewing your writing; this wonderful collaboration is no exception. I like the internal rhyming schemes that follow a pattern well enough, yet not too strictly to be not free. I can very much relate to the unpleasant-ness of navigating from dreamscapes into morning realities (although I am also guilty of saying good morning to people even when things may seem anything but good). Thanks for writing and sharing!

I had fun writing this with you :) I thought that whole "You suck" thing at the bottom would be funny, and I mean...relatable, of course. I'm glad I added it, thought it would make for a good closing line to your "good morning" email that we turned into a full poem. :) Hope for more future poems to come :)

It made me giggle.. a lot.. .. perhaps even too much!

I can fully relate to the whole "good morning?? You suck!" Thing.. and don't even get me started on alarms!

... maybe I should just let you text first every day, after you've woken and had your mourning morning drink ;-)
