Trying to be human

Trying to be human

A Poem by T.S. Ulmus
"

"Tryin' to be human" was a line from a Kerouac poem that inspired me.

"
How did I get all the skin on me?
Seem to be full of gutty-what's.
How should I know what to be?
Breathing, seeing and feeling cuts.
Who decided I should exist?
Everyday I eat and poop?
I tried and tried but can't resist
This unending banal loop.
Trying to be human
Seems to be the only choice
Cursed with bitter acumen,
At least I have a tiny voice.
To cry out in futility
In the chaos and the smoke.
A worthless token of a plea
From the fleshy and the broke.

Sometimes we ask an endless loop of existential questions when all we need do is exist.
Just be who you can be for as long as you can be and enjoy it as much as you can.
Maybe ignorance is bliss and truth is misery. I'm reminded of that red pill/blue pill scene in the Matrix.

Sometimes keeping thoughts wrapped around the exterior helps one cope with the interior.. the way your mechanics urge you move. We don't have choices so why not accept.. why complicate what is already complex! Why not glory in what is. Take a beautiful flower with a small bruise on one of its leaves: . would you trample it, burn it, drown it, et al ? if you think the way you do, i very much doubt it. So ... ?

If we be other than what we are.. we could be worse.. ( Need to tidy, forgive)

One of the thing what make us diferent from animals is every human have free choice of social behaviour . We got it free will but also we develop so many mental issues . To be real human is not easy thing to do. But we learing every day. Empathy and love will previal above the primitive insticts or i just thought ?

We are such a complex species. When you look at our anatomy and physiology, yet alone how we reproduce, it's all so mind boggling. When you compare that to the repetition and banality of everyday existence, it does make you wonder whether we were worth the effort:) If you ever find the answer, please let me know.

Incredible. And I agree. I never asked for this, for all the pain and suffering. No one in their right mind would sign up for this. Your poem really hit a nerve.

I try to swerve into a curve that's not rutted by the thoughts of others while clearing the obstacles of the mundane. I like receiving read requests for poetry, but... ya know, good stuff. more..
