The kiss

The kiss

A Poem by T.S. Ulmus

The Kiss...

  Warm Southern breezes

  bring distant thunders' chorus

  to red sunset lips...

  briefest, fleeting sun

  lets evening bear witness,

  as forms intertwine.

  Fireflies mock faint stars,

  while cloud castles edge near

  slowly writhing embraces.

  Gifts of water

  drop unnoticed

  upon warm skin...

  their kiss undisturbed.

  Darkest night turns day

  in lightnings' brilliant flashes,

  revealing lovers' still repose.

Wow, what a lovein that was. Divine kisses. Aided by mother nature to ensure that it was a magic moment never to be forgotten. Sent tingles up and down my spine thinking about it. Experiencing it, well that would be something else altogether. Lovely description here.

I've experienced one kiss like this in my life, over a decade ago.. In the rain, with the last man I was fully head over heels with. The universe had other plans for us apparently.. what they are, I'm still at a loss.

Thank you for taking me back there, if only for a moment. You're very talented at writing!

I got a kiss like this one time . . . I think it was in Kentucky about 3 decades ago in the pouring rain. I wish I had ever thought, in my life, to write about this kiss as artfully as you have. I love how you paint this moment in a tumble of observations about all the sensations being felt at the time (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is lovely and conjures within me some brilliant images. A combining of nature and romance that is keen and memorable. Very well done!

A very romantic tableau set out in words filled with colour and the sensation of lovers so focussed upon that moment.

This poem took my breath away. Especially the second verse. Dusk transitions beautifully to night and yet the lovers, oblivious of the beauty around them, stay so absorbed into their own world!

Your poetry is exquisite! Lucky girlfriend!

Such vivid words. Captured the image of purest love in a summer's night, intimate and full of passion. I enjoyed reading this one. Very nice poem!

Gentle and beautiful words shared.
" Gifts of water
drop unnoticed
upon warm skin...
their kiss undisturbed."
I did like the above lines. Warm Summer rain and a kiss. Utopia, maybe ambrosia? Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Well, TS,

The title, itself, is no less than a poetess and poet magnet.
Then, there's no better mix than Nature, its textures, hues, and human emotion to enhance a moment wrought in sensual timbre's sweet caress.
Very little is more powerful than well-writ Free Verse, when skillfully utilizing metaphor, imagery, spot-on line-breaks, and syntax that flows with unencumbered ease … a very pleasant read, indeed.
L2, edit "bare" to "bear". See other thoughtful critique in my message.

Thank you, TS, most gratefully for your generous review of my, "In Ache's Sea, Longing", and for sharing your fine poetic efforts here! ⁓ Richard 🍃
