Sticks and Stones

Sticks and Stones

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But words can do me no hurt;
Unless, of course, a wand’s involved
And the words are from Voldemort.

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But words could never harm me;
Except, of course, a femme fatale’s
Whose art is bent to charm me.

Sticks and stones may break my bones -
But the gargle of the latrine-pit
Is the only time talking ‘hind my back
Could make me give a s**t...
