Land of the toothless lions

Land of the begging-bowl

Land of crippling ignorance -

Look at your forbears, your history!

Land of proud kings

Land of wise queens

The land of bounty, land of plenty

Is now the land of missed opportunity...

 

Land of indomitable spirits;

Land of unconquerable courage;

Land of survivors, land of the strong -

Africa must wake up!!

I loved this, and I mean it really moved me. I'm huge on humanitarian themses and seeing as we are all FROM Africa, I take this has hugely symbolic and intimate. I don't usually embrace patriotism of any sort, but India, China and Africa I can definately make exceptions for.

I feel like i'm reading the same sentiment from "KILLING IGNORANCE" by that awesome writer whose name i've forgotten...wait wait he's called @Michael Mwachofi you should check him out :P

I like this...bold to the point no mucking around.

Over the years, "being an African" according to me has lost the certain lustre that it once carried. Our heritage is slowly being diluted by (mostly) unnecessary Western needs...but again there are advantages. The world is becoming a 'global village' and with that certain advancements phase our culture and heritage...it's a fight trying so stay original and true to our colors. Following the flock (developed countries) might lose us more than we gain...

Any way what do i know? I'm just a kid xD
