Road to Nowhere

Road to Nowhere

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe
"

:)

"

The evening-light still lingers

On the two receding figures

Silhouetted in the half-light,

Just us two.

Lost in one another

As the evening shadows gather

On our road to nowhere, me and you.

Everyone’s in such a hurry

They rush past us in a flurry

All around us, just a blurry

Rush of hue.

But we’re different from the others -

Hand in hand, enjoying all the colours

On our road to nowhere, me and you.

We stop to smell the flowers

Ignoring the passing hours

’Cause enjoying this love of ours

Is all we do.

All the passing signs ignoring -

Destinations are so boring -

On this road to nowhere, me and you.

We stop to watch an amber sunrise

All of Life’s beauties catch our eyes

That other people rush on by -

Too much to do.

Promenading down the thoroughfare;

We are not going anywhere…

On our road to nowhere, me and you.

I really enjoyed the imagery in this poem. There is a very sweet feel to the write. I usually dont enjoy rhyming poetry because they are, for the most part, they are too cheesy for me. That wasnt the case here. It took me a moment to catch the rhythm, but that was no fault of yours. Good job.

You always thoroughly deliver. You committed to this sweetish, subtle in-love-and-above-the-rest tone that really fit the piece.

Haha reading something like this from you is surprising bro...but props all the same.
