Home Is Where The Hate Is

Home Is Where The Hate Is

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe
"

Get those brooms.

"

Home is where the hate is  -

It was not always so;

That home should always be

Where the hate was;

But Hate came into the home

And made itself comfortable.

Home is where the hate is -

Like a broken tortoise’s shell

We carry it around

Thinking we can retreat into it

To be safe…

But that’s where we’re most vulnerable.

Home is where the hate is -

At the end of the day

We bring back some small token of hate

To sit on the shelves with the rest…

Home is where the hate is -

’Cause the hate is in our hearts…

Time for some spring cleaning

Don’t you think?

--this is my favorite part

this is a good write, though somewhat sad. but it's really amazing how you thought of this concept. very well-written indeed. it made me think "hey, why didn't i think of that?" --and with that question alone entering people's minds as they read this...it is no doubt this piece is not short of mastered. great job!

Love that. How a tortoise's shell is it's home, but the predators know it and wait till the tortoise comes out.
Great job!

XD
I haven't spring cleaned since after high school:)
You're very creative with the strong metaphors and great imagery bro. Especially loved the Tortoise shell and the spring cleaning line was just too too amazing.
Good work with this soft spoken poem. Very creative
