The Man Who Cried "Golf!"A Poem by Alvin L. KathembeA Story with a moral.“Golf!
Golf!” the man cried “I
have to go play golf with my bosses The
whole weekend.” “All
right, Love,” his wife said. So
off he went To
the strip club with his buddies. “Golf!
Golf!” the man cried “I
have to go play golf with my bosses The
whole weekend.” “All
right, Love,” his wife said. So
off he went on a business trip With
the secretary. “Golf!
Golf!” the man cried “I
have to go play golf -” “Not
again, Love?” his wife said. “Oh
well, have fun then.” So
off he went To
the beachfront with her sister. “Golf!
Golf -” but this time she didn’t believe him So
black-suited men followed him With
surreptitious glances and inconspicuous cameras Snapping
away at grown men Chasing
balls around a grassy lawn In
ridiculous outfits. She’s
never questioned his golfings since And
they lived happily ever after. © 2011 Alvin L. KathembeAuthor's Note
