A Few Words On Money

A Few Words On Money

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe
"

Self-explanatory.

"
Money can’t make you happy
But it can sure help
Money can’t buy love
But good imitations exist;
Not necessarily Chinese
But if that’s what you’re into -

Man can’t live without Love
But many of us would settle for some money
Money sells just ask the gangsta rappers
Who throw it up like confetti
Or the televangelists
Who rake it in by the basketful.

Talk is cheap
Unless you’re the aforementioned rapper
Or preacher
In which case, the inverse is true;
’Cause they cash in on that money
Who talk of little else.

There’s an emptiness inside
In your heart, your soul, your mind…
An unfilled void…
You’ve tried everything, searched everywhere
Maybe the filler is Knowledge, or Love, or God
You could spend a lifetime looking for it
But then again,
You could just stuff it full of some money
And be content with that…
If I can’t buy peace I’ll buy me some earplugs
To block out the screams of my soul.

these are my favourite lines in this poem! Haha your writing always hits base. The concept was good and the structure was great. Free versing with some half rhymes along the way brought out the intention all the more. I candidly enjoyed this poem...awesome write-definitely badass:) M.Babu

I like the meaning of this poem, but you could improve the flow of it. These are my favorite lines;

An unfilled void…
You’ve tried everything, searched everywhere
Maybe the filler is
Knowledge, or Love, or God "
You could spend a lifetime looking for it
But then again,
You could just stuff it full of some money ... I love that :)

I like the concept of this write. Money can't buy you happiness depending on how you use it. Great poem, but I think you could work on the flow. Other than that great write.
