A blessing.

May peace be thy piece; wisdom thy portion

Love be thy heirloom, and truth thy bequest.

May grace be thy balm; and patience thy lotion

May thy labours be rewarded with rest.

 

May thy soul be pure of evil,

Of every selfish ambition -

May you weather life’s upheavals

And bring thy dreams to fruition…

 

Sweaty be thy brow, and glad thy breast

May songs dog thy lips, and blessings thy steps

May those you call ‘friend’ be of Men, the best

May you love the good, and shun all the rest;

Inspire the strong, and strengthen the weak

Set aright the wrong, embolden the meek…

 

True be thy counsel, and wise be thy breath!

Long be thy life-span, and righteous thy death!
