Peace > Victory

Peace > Victory

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe

Cutex kwenye pinky -
Ni duty, si beauty.

We throw our V’s in the air
‘Cause peace is a win for all of us;
Peace > Victory.

So even as we prepare
To usher in a new year of jubilee;
Remember to remain cordial.

Elections come, elections go
Aardvarks stand, and termites vote
For the anteater with the shortest snout.

They promise us the moon, the earth, and the firmaments
They pretend they’re like us - wolves in sheeps’ garments
Do you really believe that the masquerade is permanent
For you to shed your blood for some f***ers in Parliament?

Raise your V to the sky
We are one tonight -
You’ve already won
If you elect not to fight
So when the fuss is up
And their promises are history
You realize;
Peace is the only victory…
