Things

Things

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe

Gift-voucher relationships
Co-valentine bonds
From my account I siphon
To buy the latest iPhone
And other tokens of my love
So what’s your mind really like?
To what can your heart compare?
What do you think of Life?
Well, baby, I’m unaware
But Samsung and shiny stones
Show you that I care…

Fancy cars and flashy clothes
And all the stares they bring
What do I care for all of those?
I am not defined by things.

True, you have hit the nail on the head when you take away all the things, what are you left with, yourself and hopefully you will find the truest form of your true self!
