The Parting of the Ways

The Parting of the Ways

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe

At the parting of the ways
Where destiny is decided
I stand.
At the parting of the ways
I chose the path
Of least resistance.
At the parting of the ways
Where character is determined
I chose the wide and cobbled road.
At the parting of the ways;
The crossroads of destiny -
A left-behind lover weeps.
At the parting of the ways
Hoping against hope,
A heart-broken lover prays...
Prays that someday
Her lover will turn back
And, at the parting of the ways,
Choose the right path...
Hoping against hope,
Sweet Innocence...
