A Dream of TwoA Poem by AtlasAbout you.I've nurtured a fantasy of red maple leaves dancing along atmospheric oxygen, and golden retrievers prancing two by two. There was something simple about a dimly lit smile At 36 past midnight, Where compliments weren’t vague And our stories were told upon the grain of fingerprints. Gazing out at the edge of our rolling earth, You tell me the little things I already know But not the thing I want to know. That it's not faith, but fact. I'll let a careless whisper run across a breath While your face sings yellow. How quickly an hour slides by in seconds. How quickly I remember that your truths Are not my own, And that a fantasy nurtured is still a fantasy. © 2019 AtlasAuthor's Note
