Remember To Forget

Remember To Forget

A Poem by tk
"

You taught me how to love; you taught me how to live; you taught me how to laugh; you taught me how to cry, but when you left, you forgot to teach me how to forget you.

"

It’s  two a.m., says the clock

But I’m still awake, reminiscing the past

Was meeting you just a sort of luck?

Suddenly out of my grasp, not meant to last?

I heard you’re doing fine without me

You’re with her now, you seem so contented

Is taking me for granted just too easy?

Now you’re not around, you left me deserted.

Whenever I see you, it’s just awkward

I can’t talk to you like I used to before

I’m the greatest pretender, I deserve an award

I’m smiling but deep inside it cuts me to the core.

I existed in your life, don’t you recall?

I’m probably in those unwritten chapters

You remembered to forget me, after all

Left me in the dark with my heart shattered.

I love the picture ("Hi, I exist") and I love the poem. This is really sad and heartbreaking. It really hurts when the other person moves on easily and you're left remembering the past and hoping he'll come back. You showed it well through this poem. I think it flowed well, and the rhyme scheme was really good. Good job!

Nice write

really well written. i loved it. is it just me or did each paragraph become clearer and clearer? the first stanza was gray, then the next was a light black, then the next a darker black, then the last the darkest black yet. or maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, but if you wrote it that was on purpose, nice and subtle but it really made the poem stand out.

Beautiful poem, once again. The stanza's are structured nicely, the rhyme scheme was okay, and it flowed nicely. That last stanza was the most powerful, that ended the poem so perfectly. I'm sure all of us wonder if we're even remembered. Nicely poem, keep it up.

Forgetting…I’ve been there before and I must admit that it was really difficult to do…Sometimes, we can’t just wipe away the memories for they are the only things left when everything is already gone…You expressed yourself here deeply…The emotions you used here fitted the whole piece well...
“Whenever I see you, it’s just awkward

Oh well, I felt the bullet in my heart as I read those lines! Haha!
Great work, Amber…Be tough! It just takes time! You can do it!

The "Hi I exist" picture was what drew me to this poem, and I'm glad to have read it.
This is the perfect poem for every break up, for every break up that breaks uneven, leaving one person burnt. I think what I love the most about this, is the flow, the rhyme.

A sad poem. All of us wonder if we are remembered. Sometime the pain can be rebirth by a action or a memory. Strong statements gave life to a excellent poem.
