Remember To Forget

Remember To Forget

A Poem by tk
"

You taught me how to love; you taught me how to live; you taught me how to laugh; you taught me how to cry, but when you left, you forgot to teach me how to forget you.

"

It’s  two a.m., says the clock

But I’m still awake, reminiscing the past

Was meeting you just a sort of luck?

Suddenly out of my grasp, not meant to last?

I heard you’re doing fine without me

You’re with her now, you seem so contented

Is taking me for granted just too easy?

Now you’re not around, you left me deserted.

Whenever I see you, it’s just awkward

I can’t talk to you like I used to before

I’m the greatest pretender, I deserve an award

I’m smiling but deep inside it cuts me to the core.

I existed in your life, don’t you recall?

I’m probably in those unwritten chapters

You remembered to forget me, after all

Left me in the dark with my heart shattered.

I love the picture ("Hi, I exist") and I love the poem. This is really sad and heartbreaking. It really hurts when the other person moves on easily and you're left remembering the past and hoping he'll come back. You showed it well through this poem. I think it flowed well, and the rhyme scheme was really good. Good job!

Enjoyed this, a very visual and well written poem, an original look at the theme, honest and true, and a really good first verse.

Nice poem! It's heartbreaking and beautiful in a sad and lonely way. Good job! My favorite paragraph is the last one:
"I existed in your life, don’t you recall?

I’m probably in those unwritten chapters

You remembered to forget me, after all

Left me in the dark with my heart shattered."

Its great last paragraph. Keep up the good work! :)

well to start of the piece reminds me of something i would write, its very connective to the emotion and ultimately it does just that to the reader. reminds me a popular spanish song that shares a similar idea and in itself is an excellent thing!

The picture is what grabbed my attention, it's pretty great.
"I’m the greatest pretender, I deserve an award."
That is such a powerful line- really good job.

The only thing I love more than the poem, is the title :D The whole thing together is just amazing. The person who remembered to forget you, must read this.
