And Yet I shine

And Yet I shine

A Poem by Tiffany K Charles

                    And Yet I Shine

You may try to dim my light
With shadows that you cast,
But still, I shine
Bright and steadfast

You may mock my gentle spirit,
Scoff at my tender grace,
But like the dawn that rises,
I'll stand and face my place.

Did you think I'd falter?
Did you hope I'd fail?
Like a river flowing onward,
I'm more than just tale.

My strength is in my softness,
My power is in my care.
Like the moon through darkest nights,
I'll always find the air.

You can push me down,
Try to hide me fron the view,
But still, I shine,
For my light is always true.

Through storms that howl and thunder,
Through winds that bends the trees,
I rise up even taller,
An answer to all pleas

So go ahead, try hearder,
Attempt to crush my soul,
But still, I shine,
Ever rising, ever whole
