Falls

Falls

A Poem by tiya

Just a little longer
I wish I could stay
Feeling the hold give
At the wind-blown sway

Age-weary, dry, shivering
Awaiting time to unwrap
For change to come again
When my last grip will snap

Light moves to make room
For heavy clouds to hover
And birds caw to bode
A storm or a shower

I feel drops one by one
The embrace from the breeze
And sigh with deep emotion
At a farewell so sweet

It’s time, I let go
Held in a cool, soft palm
Gently letting me sink
Into a floor yet warm

Pitter-patters still
Rains that I have seen
Through rich golden years
And felt on skin once green

Time to rest, all's done
I lie back and think
Of other showers, seasons
Since my very first spring
