Something's Gonna Give! By T. Pina

A Poem by PENS FOR PEACE /TJ CALIFORNIA
"

A poem about broken relationships

"

We are two very strong headed, unchangeable persons, always clashing with each other in life!

We have both caused so much pain and heartless strife.

We're guilty of holding back each other from progressing on the roads of life.

Yet one thing's sure, in all this turmoil we call a releationship, that seems to always find it's way through our door.

The truth is, that's something's gonna give, we can't endure much more;

I truly loathed you for oh so long, yet for the kid's sake I keep quiet and tried to hold on!

Our years together felt like a prison sentence that would never end,

A thousand years of hell that help could never mend.

We can't keep living tit for tat, hoping to survive on a premise false as that.

We were never each other's soul mate, that was quite clear from our turbulent start.

 That shouldn't have been a reason, to break each others hearts.

If we don't stop playing these games, hurting with all this pain,

then something's just gonna give, if not we'll both go insane;

Didn't my hurtful words, I could never hold back, always cut you down?

 The times you stabed me through my heart with your infidelity,

didn't I patch myself up and try to stay around?

I'm not threatening you, hell  I would never do that.

 In all this misery, I'm just stating a true fact.

If we don't turn oursevles around and stop this destructive course,

then all that we sacraficed for will crash and burn.

It will do so with no remorse.

Because in the end something's gonna give, mark my words with that;

 Sad to say, like a bridge structurally damage under constant heavy stress;

Something's gonna give, it just alway's does!

I really like this. I liked the rhyme scheme. My only advice, and it's not a big thing, but if you broke your sentences down, where each one was app the same length. Example..
don't stop playing these games, hurting with all this pain,
then something's just gonna give, if not we'll both go insane;

don't stop playing these games
hurting with all this pain
then something's just gonna give
if not we'll both go insane

Those are just personal preferences, but I think it looks cleaner. Great piece.

I can relate to this poem so much. I was once in a foruteen year relationship living a lie. He and I knew for a long time this would not be. Then when it done it was done. No more empty conversation. In all honesty it felt like a million punds lifted off of me.

I found this to be very touching as to its sincerity and openness. It was very heartfelt and filled with passion on many levels. A very poignant and strong message. I think many people can relate to this one.

I dunno...I don't think the rhythm got thrown off too much. One or two spots I noticed it, but I've seen much worse. I DO agree that this is very personal indeed. It feels like someone just hammering away at the same point in frustration and the other person standing there with their fingers in their ears screaming, "I can't hear you, la la la la la!" I could really feel the futility and helplessness of the situation in your "voice". Pretty good job!

i understand this very well...i just had to go through a similar situation...actually i still am to some extent, but i made the wise choice to leave...i couldn't do it anymore and it was killing me to do so.

nicely expressed and honestly said...relationships are meant to be loving, not torturous and laboring to maintained.

Always,

Amanda

yes sometimes love just dies or it has never been there,and then all the troubles will start ,someone will hit at the other until both are hurt,a sad feeling here ,it should never get to this i have always known when things get to a closed end there should a better way to release tension sadly sometimes going apart is for the best,this is sad truthful and realistic ,great work here...

This passage seemed to hit a little too close to home for me. This is a great poem, one that I would love to share with my friends who are struggling through their own "relationships from hell". You are an amazing writer. Keep up the great work.

This really got my attention! It read like a story, or a letter, but as a poem, it is just wonderful. I had a hellish relationship, but I would never have been able to put it to words as you did!

Wow, have you been sneaking around my house?? I think I might be LIVING this relationship!! If you go to my page and see some of my stuff, I write about a relationship that is less than perfect, also. Thanks for sharing. This is such an intimate thing to allow people to view. Like eyes, poetry is sometimes the window to our souls. TC
