Tormentor

He brought to mind
Ted Bundy;
the Green River Killer.

I remember a light,
strong and penetrating,
blinding,
forcing me to close
   my eyes.

Imagine a feeling
of helplessness,
apprehension,
fear.

I trembled,
I prayed.

I heard the cling
of metal;
of breathing.

Then his hands
reached out towards me
bringing pain.

My worst fears,
my worst nightmares
come true.

"Looks like you'll need
some root canal.
Schedule him for Tuesday."

Does God hear prayers?
Apparently not.
