A Monsters Bite

A Monsters Bite

A Poem by Aurora Dawn
"

Just a little something for halloween.

"
     Good night,
     Sleep tight,
     Don't let the monsters bite.
Watch your heart and watch your head as they fill up with fright.
Hiding in your closet, right behind the door.
You start to panic, you can't take anymore.
     The darkness over-runs your mind.
The light switch you just can't seem to find.
Monsters and demons under your bed.
The darkness is really getting to your head.
You run in circles screaming for help.
Nobody seems to care, or listen to your yelp.
Growling is coming from right under the floor.
You start to panic you can't take it anymore.
Ghosts and goblins chasing you around.
Running to the door you start to pound.
Mice and spiders crawling through the wall.
You're getting so scared you just may fall.
Running around, searching for that light.
Trying to take away all of your fright.
Flip the switch the light comes on.
You look at the time, it's creeping up on dawn.
Letting out a breath you open up the door.
Your minds your worst fear, almost couldn't take it any more.
     Good night,
     Sleep tight,
     Don't let the monsters bite.
Whatch your heart and watch your head as they fill up with fright.

Wonderful piece
Fright influences everyone-young and old.
You painted it so vividly!
You acted as a story teller and hypnotized us to believe the elements of fear are around.
You acted as a doctor too!You prescribed the right way of sleeping.
Fabulous work.
Congratulations,Aurora!!!

Very impressive poem for the start of Halloween. I would add where it says 'the darkness over runs your mind' either within the confines of your mind, or inside your mind. It may help it flow better and gave the reader a right good scare as they say. I must say that you have a talent for the Macabre/ Gothic style of writing. making things that go 'bump in the night' come right off the page and into the readers mind. Overall a very frightening piece of work.

I swear I got scared for a moment ... it's a really nice lullaby and the fact that you're so young and good at writing blows me away ... keep up with the good work

That would be really cool haha
It almost as if the reader has fallen asleep and is experiencing your macabre accounts of fright. Then wakes up and it's time to go to sleep again. Good creepy tale filled with plenty of things to consider at bed time. lol Very nice.

Cool, awesome poem. Just the fearsome thing between the lines and the repeat of those 4 lines really brought my attention to it.

If there was anything of the hallmarks of a scary poem, you've got it.

I thought this was pretty cool. I think it almost has a nursery rhyme feel to it. I like the repetition of the chorus as well. I feel like it gives a good sense of catchy-ness to it also making it memorable ;

Good night,
Sleep tight,
Don't let the monsters bite.
Whatch your heart and watch your head as they fill up with fright.

I think it makes a great Halloween poem. Good work Aurora Dawn.
