Curtains

Curtains

A Poem by Zach Gordano

These harsh words I say
Come from no part of my feelings.
They hurt me, just as bad as they hurt you.
And they would not hurt you,
If you did not care.
And they would not hurt so bad,
If you didn't love me.

You say that you'll be there,
And I know you will,
I just don't know how.
It scares me to know that
I have to go through this alone.
You cannot hold me like you used to.
I cannot cry subtly in your arms.

I will pull through this on my own.
I would not be able to do it if it weren't for you.
Because if I did not have the hope
That someday I can rest easy in your arms again,
Then I would have left this awful earth
A long, long time ago.
You are the only thing
That keeps me going.
