The Headless Horseman

The Headless Horseman

A Poem by Zach Gordano

Everyday passes, one day closer to
Death.
I have already passed away inside.
The energy that powers me
Is no longer strong enough to keep me
Alive.
All movements have stopped.
Kinetic transformed to potential,
But the opportunity of motion is impractical.

A dream,
But the brain hasn't heard
Sane thoughts in weeks.
The hollow inside my brain
Is indeed sleepy.
I am headless.
No sense of direction.

We may ride a medium that
Is okay with you,
But I gallop for you,
And only you.
And this resolution is not adequate
For me,
Forever.

The remedy will cure my death-bound heart,
And the potion will alleviate your fear.
The surgery will make us one.
Forever.
As I am resuscitated,
We can be so alive
Once again.
For each other,
Free to be one.
Free to love,
Undying.
