Broken Signals

Broken Signals

A Poem by Zach Gordano

Thick blankets of grey and black
Cloud the sky.
Every night, it pours,
Harder and harder.
A never-ending storm
Of love mixed with scorn
Showers me.
Your words crack the sky
Like thunder.
But the mixed signals
Make me feel otherwise.
Your gentle breeze blowing upon me
Is only temporary,
For the hurricane winds will pick up.
As if the light shining through the opaque sky
Cannot get through.
Like the light that guides me at sea,
I am never quite steady sailing.
Pretending to navigate,
But I can barely even see.
Where is your light to pilot me?
It shines so bright,
But scatters in the thick aurora,
And cannot break through.
Where it is peaceful,
I'm trying to find your calm eye
Of the storm,
So you can see the true love.
But as I head towards the rocks,
Your mixed signals will be
The death of me.
