Mirrors

Mirrors

A Poem by Zach Gordano

As I look into the past,
You reflect upon me now.
Every time I try to check,
It is like you never left.
Just another thing, I can't take it,
I want to f*****g break it.
Slit my throat upon the glass.
Shattered remnants always last.
And it's something I'll preserve,
For your seat, it is reserved.
In your mind we're just a crack,
The real image will soon come back.
But as I look into the mirror now,
You are my reflection,
A haunting misconception.
And I cannot wait until I see
Your reflection, but with me.
Because the mirror on the wall,
He said we were meant to be.
But that mirror's shattered now.
And I am left to drown.
My love for you will bounce
Upon the wading shore.
For water reflects too,
Nevermore, will I swim with you.
But I see your love above.
When I look into my heart,
The shattered pieces draw a picture.
We will have a fresh start
To love again,
To love again.
