The Feather

The Feather

A Poem by Zach Gordano

Remember when we flew to the greatest heights possible
Through the land of the all knowing,
Where love was the antidote?
For every journey we have taken,
A single feather has fallen to the earth,
Slowly but surely.
Your words hit me like feathers.
So soft, I could rest my head eternally.

Remember the first snow,
When you wanted to fly solitarily?
Your words hit me like feathers,
But so misleading,
Like a ton of bricks.
In a world where it weighs the same as a ton of feathers.
You hit me so hard.
And your feathers weren't so delicate after all.

Well, I'll still be here when the flowers blossom.
And maybe, just maybe
We will take flight again.
