Defiance

Defiance

A Poem by Zach Gordano

If it isn't too clear,
My life thrives on fear.
Losing my hope, chasing my dreams
Like the gold rope that gleams
In the light.
But in the dead of night
And in the heat of darkness
My soul lingers inside of me,
Dead.

But waiting to be resuscitated
On murder, premeditated.
A parricide.
And after you took me on the ride
You took my flesh, my heart
Waiting for me to die.

And I may be dead inside,
But you can't take my pride,
Or my life
Because I will heal over time
And someday I know we'll be one
Again.

But remember...
Suicide is a permanent solution
To a temporary problem.

And my soul may be dead,
But I will not kill myself.
I cannot take the easy way out
Because I am always up for a challenge.
And you are the hardest one I will ever face.
