The Necessities

The Necessities

A Poem by Zach Gordano

You may think you are better off now,
But you weren't happy where we left it.
What we need is a change of place,
Not a change of face.
Together we will be
Oh so carefree.
About everything,
But I care for you,
And you care for me.

I miss watching the Disney channel, cuddling,
The comfort of your warm body while we're huddling,
Falling asleep in my arms,
I never meant any harm,
But it was oh so wrong.

You are my baby girl,
My whole world.
My life revolves around you,
So I'll do what I got to do to come back to you.

I am your proxy.
I'm glued to you,
A host ready to serve you.
And I'm on a mission
To stop this nuclear fission
Because my heart is torn and still separating.
And it radiates poison,
Killing you,
And killing me.

But for now, it is the hope
That brings me through my day.
But I cannot get too high
Because when I get let down,
I will die.
And I will not go too low,
Because I need to live my life.
But I'm thinking positive,
Waiting and waiting.
Everyday passing feels like a lifetime,
A life that I should have lived.
But I'm starting to do things on my own,
Well for now, at least.

And I try to convince myself
That I don't love you.
It is more of a fallacy
Than you convincing yourself
That you don't love me.

I know you are hurt, confused, scared.
And you cannot describe how you feel right now
Because for the first time ever,
I do believe that you really do not know.
What you want, or what you need.

We left in a bad place,
So I do know that you were not happy.
But that unhappiness cannot overcome
The loving euphoria we once had.

And when you realize you're addicted,
Take a tablet of me, and that euphoria
Will be better,
And stronger
Than ever.
