I'm Not Who You Are

I'm Not Who You Are

A Poem by THESt3V

If you could read my mind
Would you hate what you see?
Because instead of your reflection
You’d be staring right at me
It’s getting really tiring
Being who you want me to be
So I’ll be myself for a bit
Just to hear you scream

Piercing my ears with your hate and distaste
Scratching my eyes out to see things your way
Emptying my lungs to fill them with decay
Sewing my lips shut so that you won’t hear me say

I just want to be myself again
The air doesn’t change who I am
Breathe it in. Fill your lungs.
And maybe you’ll see where you went wrong
