Reverence

Reverence

A Poem by THERX
"

Reverence and Anguish

"

Running at a pace

in which I’m trying to keep up

with the words and treachery of disgrace

gnawing at my face, see

once, twice, maybe even thrice

is enough to handle, but

what happens when it’s a constant chase?

between these creatures and

your gradually dismembered face

almost as if it was a nightmare

established to force you out of your place

each person fills a slot in this world and

when they leave they get replaced

by someone that is always the better choice

its things like this that make me bite my lip

and make me feel the pain of anguish

the better choice after me?

the one that replaces me.

for it is he that defaces me and

all of those that had ever trusted me

to have your own turn on you

despite everything you tried and known

those, those are the ones that cause the most pain

they make you bleed through the seams in your skin and break

like a face being kicked in the midst of reverence

but it’s only the face that people judge right?

so why even keep up in the race

you’ll only be forced to your own pace and

then resort to fighting your own haste

only a waste, your life as your wear the badge

the badge of your own disgrace
