Deception

Deception

A Poem by THERX

Society Ft. Government Views

In the night when you’re on a flight

Headed somewhere where one might fight

Fight for what is right, there is a thought

Something one might not have got when given to them straight

Like the edge of a paper designed to be bait

It’s sickening to see that trickery is what society has resorted to

You sit, blinded by the night,

All alone on a four-hundred-person flight,

You watch as the charcoal clouds pass you by

Making you cautious and wondering why?

Has society become so numb that even adults are sucking on their thumbs?

We are not a suckling babe, wondering aimlessly through the streets

Streets that could be described by the wise as a beaten path

Maybe one that has its own story to tell, but paths don’t have mouths

So we stand by and watch as every other person dies.

Is this what we call home? A world of no growth.

There used to be a time when something was astray,

We would stand by one another even in disarray.

But no when they look back on today, in fifty years,

Our predecessors ought be ashamed

For what it is that we have done

To make this world misbehave.
