Thoughts Of A Broken Mind

Thoughts Of A Broken Mind

A Poem by THERX
"

The Images That Crawl Through My Mind At Night

"

You say you have “High Standards”

Every time that thought crosses my mind

I can’t help but think that...

So do I.

And within a moment’s notice I put you inside.

Even with the doubt in the back of my mind.

I pushed it away and let you slide

Although I hear the tyranny crying inside

A day comes when we ask our selves

What about I?

In return I ask

No what about we?

A stigma that defines a you and me

Dreams of what I thought could be

But that’s a risk

Like playing baseball with a disc

Tragedies and pain muffle our thoughts

So clouded that are minds are lost

And we are left searching for them

Not thinking about the cost

Shut down we might seem

But in reality it’s all we see

Walking through the fog

Trying not to walk into something

We don’t even perceive

The candle in the hall burns

Counting down the moments on that will never return

In the day when the shadows won’t leave our side

Or in the night when they are what provide our light

I ask myself in the thoughts of my broken mind

What about I?
