Fly in Amber

Fly in Amber

A Poem by T. F. Rice
"

They say "never explain..."

"

FLY IN AMBER

I can feel the Amber

all around me,

still fluid

as a deeply-honeyed tea.

It thickens slowly,

fills my eyes and nose

with fear and yet

a stillness that I don’t

quite understand.

Things may be easier soon,

I contemplate, as if a choice.

The job of the Fly in Amber

is simpler than

finding food to eat and

safe places to land.

I love the allusions to a peaceful death, and the imagery is nicely crafted. Well done.
