How the war between the two went from cold to hot

President James Andrews sat at his desk tapping his pen waiting for something to happen. ANYTHING to happen. It had been 3 months since he was sworn into office on January 20th 2024 and being the first gay president the pressure for him to do great things was even higher than presidents that preceded him. There had been one problem plaguing his short presidency. A major problem.... Russian naval aggression in not only the pacific but also the Atlantic after the annexation of the native states and the acquisition of a warm water port.(something the Russian government had been yearning for since the early 1990s after the soviets collapsed). The way Andrews planned to solve this problem was to send in a fleet of about 10 destroyers and 2 heavy cruisers near Vladivostok to show US naval dominance in the pacific life. The same size fleet was sent to Riga, latvia to convey the same message. The United States will not back down. Later that month it came as no surprise to James when he received news that the Russian federations fleet had arrived outside Boston harbor. A small US task force was sent to challenge the fleet. As they stand staring at each other the unthinkable happens. Someone fires. Historians would look back and easily see that it was a nervous new US navy recruit that had fired the fatal shot. The shot that would end the lives of millions. All the tinder was in the box and that seaman had just lit the fuse and now the whole world was gonna burn because of one man's mistake.
