A Writer's Nightmare

What storytelling means to me

Everyone has a nightmares
I am also a victim of it.
A fear that needs to be conquer
One step closer to my answers
But two steps away from questions

Deliver me to the writer's quest
As I am three steps away from my final words
A storyteller who is going to end his chapters
Just wanting my story to get it published
And waiting for the readers approval

We never know the forthcoming
As I have worked arduously
To get the right words
Will my storytelling be a success?
Or will it shatter in shambles

Now let's pretend
My story never saw the recognition
All the arduous work went down in vain
I as a storyteller saw dilapidation
Who is blames for this miscarriage

But now someone takes my same story
Changed some few words and made it
I have become a victim of plagiarism
He is now a well known writer
Well I am still digesting the truth

It is hard to see my character flourish
At the hands of another man
Feeling enraged to cry for his demise
The man of words has no words
Wanting to settle the final score

I wonder now what is there left for me?
Should I sulk and opt for legal action
But that is a long and sticky process
I am an unknown writer with no wealth
To pay the needs and meet my ends

Now he writes gibberish
And the greens fly into his pocket
For he is rich and buys everyone
Fans and flatterers all over him
He is raving on my hard work

BUT

If one person takes my book
And gives me the recognition that I soo need
It would be breathtaking for me
As I may not have an army for my defence
But still it is better than being untold

For I remember now
I am just a storyteller
Who only cares only to tell a story
Who told the story to that one person
Who knows the truth

Interesting...based on real life? If so I am sorry for this experience.. If not.. it stands as a good warning as to what can happen when you bring your work into light..
It has happened a couple of times to me on this site.. I almost left, but decided to blocked the perpetrators..no use talking to those, who think they do no wrong.

Yes, this is filled with questions and we (you) may never know the answers unless you progress and keep writing. This speaks to me of a time of indecision and doubt and "is this effort worth it ?" kind of mentality. I say yes - it's worth it as long as it brings pleasure Terrence.

Wow, it's an amazing piece of work And the best part is i do have fears mentioned above. I have visualized the very same scenario, when i write drafts of my story. Afraid of the same points. Afraid of not being recognized. This easily resonates in my heart. But the flip side also resonates as well. That i am just a story teller, here to share my story. Yeah it's a tough road ahead right? But to have read this here, is a blessing in disguise for me ^^ Loved it ^^

Hey Terrance, A well pointed views taken in this great piece. I enjoyed reading it.
, I've read a lot of writings in here that I consider a piece of art- poems, story, book etc.
This site is a place to share and that should be that. If someone have a different motive besides
Sharing their work in here then he or she shouldn't be publishing anything here at all. I have some
writing project that I choose not to share simply because I choose not to. Been here almost a year

It is not easy to be published and it is a great let down when you have worked so hard to create what you believe to be a masterpiece. As writers, we all hope someone will appreciate the story we have to tell....and remember us through our words. You express yourself well, but I can tell English is not your first language. i always feel that if someone plagiarizes, it is on their conscience...people ask me if i worry about putting my stuff on line....but i don't...someone might steal it...but in the end, when i go to sleep at night, i know i wrote it...
