The Shop (Ira's Song)

The Shop (Ira's Song)

A Poem by Black and Blue

The Shop (Ira's Song)

Strength and Power
Belong to this House
Equality and Balance
Consume Conversation

All who come through the door
Are open to the power of suggestion.
Politics, women,
Troubles, triumphs,
Children, church,
Become the common path
Of vehement verbage.

A place where dreams are not deferred;
And nothing is ever inferred.
Cool Cats, my folk,
What up, Man!
Mr., gentleman,
Friend, brother,
Pastor, teacher

Blackman speaks
All walks of life prevail
Strength and Power
Belong to this house
Membership is free;
Yet there is a fee…
