Of Fools and GoldA Poem by C.T. BaileyYou delight in our ignorance. We become your marks, mere targets of opportunity, Our simpleton ways betray us, Our ways never produce greatness and wisdom. In our simplicity, we see your world and it is our heart's desire. You laud one another with accolades praising your Modest living and traditional values You delight in our ignorance. You want and you will have, you desire and you will hold - Your EBITDAs, Deltas, Gammas, and margin spreads, Do you have an answer now? What of your own wealth at this moment? Your MBA failed you. I delight in your ignorance. Your world has crashed. These trappings of your world In the morn, I watch the dew kiss the autumn leaf, And I will thank God for my family. I will work hard for honest pay. I will sleep soundly and eat heartily. I delight in your ignorance. My home is filled with peace. Truth and trust go before me. My vengeance is served by your own hand. As your world swallows you up, you will look up with bewilderment, And it will be your heart’s desire. © 2010 C.T. Bailey |
