Your KnowledgeA Chapter by C.T. BaileyChapter V Your Knowledge Son, there’s a specter which forever haunts Menacing some with belittling taunts. Their lives the phantom obstinately restrains; Binding their souls with oppressive chains. He’s a punisher of entire households A deliverer of poverty untold. He casts his shadow over the lazy Sowing apathy - their futures made hazy. His name is Ignorance and he is to blame; For by his hands many souls live in shame. Son, hear my pleading; a sincere appeal, Ignorance destroys - your life he will steal. Here’s a great mystery for us to discern - How wisdom is often of no concern; When young men fail to consider life’s path, They open the door for Ignorance’s wrath. Ignorance’s enemy is Education - A guiding light on your path to life’s station. She will adorn you with honor and respect, When upon her wisdom you often reflect.
Here is an important consideration: Her work isn’t merely for your vocation. She will continue to mold and shape you, Her guarantee Ignorance is subdued. You see Son, you should never believe, All learning can be completely achieved. Wisdom is not a cup, from which you drink, Wisdom is a river in which you think. On its placid waters your life will glide, Far from Ignorance’s shadow you’ll hide. For as long as you seek Education, She will carry you to new locations. However; one single admonition: A warning about that Apparition. If you become content with your thinking, Below placid waters you’ll start sinking. I know you understand the point I’ve made, I now wish to share where wisdom is conveyed. Yes, much learning is found in the classroom; Though it’s not a place to dread and find doom. Teachers work hard to impart their knowledge; Primary, secondary, and through college. Repay their efforts with attention undivided, The foundation for learning? They’ve provided. Completing a degree is good progress, But remember in your knowledge to obsess. Always yearn for greater understanding, Whether it’s from a book or life expanding. Age brings admiration for Education She delivering wisdom and salvation. Wisdom that solves, proposes, and questions And salvation from Ignorance’s oppression. © 2010 C.T. Bailey |
