I am legend

I am legend

A Poem by T.B. Odin

I am legend
When three moons aligned within their own light
It was a most unusual Autumn night.
Everyone within it’s dewless mists
Could feel the threat of it’s silent hiss.
With hope and fear to the sky they did peer
Only to find, the stars of their gods were not there.
Prayers were said but no one heard
For the gods turned their backs on the mortal world.

Then came minions and creatures only legends knew
And they gathered in dark armies to conquer and rule.
A single knight clad in platinum to the battle did ride
For the faith in his god did not falter that night.
To him, came a legion of courage that fought with great skill
The land turned to blood from the creatures they killed.
Hope filled their hearts with the promise of day
But not even the sun drove the evil away.

Then in his path,a great darkness stood
It’s armor was black, it’s face covered by a hood.
They engaged in full combat and were equally matched
Both with speed and precision that would not last.
With red mud on their feet, the dark lord slipped to the ground
And from it’s head came the concealing crown.
The knight paused in horror at what his eyes did see
For this kind of evil, it just could not be.

What he saw, this darkness, he would not slay
For before him, a woman, his love did lay.
His sword dropped form his hand unable to perform this deed
He cursed to the starless heavens, “Where’s my god in my time of need?”
He swore with his love, her he would not kill
It was then with her blade, his blood did spill.
She turned to the battle leaving him there to die
It was then his god spoke and spared his life.

“Your heart is true and you have pure faith
Your life is yours, your soul I can not save.
You will harden your armor and have no fright
For you will walk as two, like day and night.
You will live forever till you find what was stolen from you
A love that is worthy, pure and true.
Thus you will live until you are whole
For on this day you will find your soul.

Your heart will beat and your eyes will cry
Until this time you can not die.
Now on your feet this battle you must win
For if evil prevails, all you know will end.
I tell you now of the suffering you will endure
For I can not promise, you will find loves lure.
But what was sundered and undone
Will be righted when two make one.”
