Eyes of an Angel

Eyes of an Angel

A Poem by T.B. Odin

Eyes of an angel

An ocean of lifetimes I have crossed,
Searching the earth and heavens through.
I long for the treasure I have lost,
Forever restless for that which is true.
The angels close their eyes.

Long ago when it once was mine,
The earth became blood and my soul spilled.
With a heart of scars it vanished with time,
Lives I have taken, souls I have killed.
The angels begin to cry.

Filled with pain and endless sorrow,
But from these eyes tears never fall.
Time I have stolen and lives I have borrowed,
But armor of stone is seen by all.
The angels sing out their cries.

Deep within is a heart that still bleeds,
So each morning I’m touched by my loss.
What I am know one sees,
Being alone on this voyage is my cost.
The angels open their eyes.

The sun falls and I die each night,
Restless and still I pray.
Yet even in dreams I still must fight.
My journey continues one more day.
The angels close their eyes.

"Filled with pain and endless sorrow,

Time I have stolen and lives I have borrowed,
But armor of stone is seen by all.
The angels sing out their cries." ... But I don't believe this second line at all ... you have summoned the angels to cry for you. (A soldier on the out but not on the in my friend). Another day is all you owe - with that in mind your forfeit is soon paid. The treasure is not lost, just eluding you... this is writtten with your soul - a great gift. Thankyou for sharing it . a very moving write, the second stanza especially got to me..."with a heart of scars it vanished with time"--
wish I had written that line.

Very sad and deep. Every line filled with terrible pain.

Good write.
