Dueling Violins (Yanni's Song) - Sonnet     featuring two violinists, Karen Briggs and Shahrdad Rohani, at the  Yanni's 1998 "Live at the Acropolis" performance Anticipating each half-note he brings to life, her fingers stretch to find the grooves. Perfection springs, as sound is bounced from strings, then quickly as Baryshnikov, she moves. His chords a hurried sequence, devil's notes, seduce her hand then challenges her bow, which glides across the bridge the music floats beyond the Parthenon, but so few know  this duo, he in black and she in red, sleek racing cars, fine-tuned, pumped full with fuel, who drive life into wood that's long been dead while savoring each aspect of the duel. Smooth liquid notes of eighths slake all who thirst, resounding Grecians, once again, are first.

wow! how beautiful a tribute .. to artists and the use of sonnet form .. i appreciate the effort to perfect a sonnet as they are not in my tool box ..and have written just a few and always with the guidance of our friend Richard .. so i will not even get into dissecting the form .. i just let it take me on its rhythmic ride and delight in rhyme .. and you use everyday language ..not yielding to the temptation of ye olde English ;) well done! i am now headed to youtube to enjoy the music ... wonderful tribute Tamara!

Classical music is not really my area of expertise, but I have been recently introduced to the music of Yanni, so your poem does register on that level. From what i have heard so far, the music is quite stunning.

As a piece of writing, your sonnet hits all the right notes. True to the form and written on a very original theme, very different to the usual objects of beauty that Sonnet's are usually written in praise of. Kudos for that originality. Something in short supply on this site in my opinion.

Overall, another fine poetic write. The Sonnet is a difficult form to master and you have done very well here.
