A Scent of RemembranceA Poem by TitusMr Lincoln Rose, one of the most fragrant roses there are, beware tho', there are many thorns.SONNET
A love which grew like any love I know, Dear Mr Lincoln Sir, how sweet a smell So fragrant to the nose, my eyes do glow Affections of the heart, pray kiss-or-tell.
If just between ourselves, - a closer pry, To say, forgive the sigh, a ghastly red, Conspires with danger, yet, I cannot lie, It pleads what tad officious men have said.
Indeed, you’ll find imperative a task To stop an endless ask of may do wells, A rose with rich reward a scent will masque The gathering of thorns leaves slow repels.
It is for keeps to lop. Now stop right there, How painful partings dare to smell the air? © 2018 TitusAuthor's Note
