The Lilac and Ground Elder - Sestina

The Lilac and Ground Elder - Sestina

A Poem by Titus
"

I use to have a lilac bush/tree. The ground elder use to overgrow around it, weed infestation.

"

                           LILAC, above

idem relinquit

Our aim is to adorn beauty. I rapidly dread,

The outcome, leaves are so similar to a lilac;

Seeds disperse, lie amongst the evil spread,

Interspersed if there there hope beyond her,

Feathery light has spoken to a ground elder,

For reasons are selfish proclaim as are needs.

To eradicate the threat he has the dire needs

To follow, a disruptive plant I shall so dread

Parting with merely I plead with you Elder?

You have gone great lengths the roots, a lilac,

Frivolity, sense of humour impound upon her,

So sensitive, is where our arms are to spread.

Smothered, a scene with an obscure spread.

Cultivating fingers merely led bringing needs

To displace her fairy ring, placed against her,

Willing to accept the softer option is I dread,

Being fussy, merely rampant against the lilac,

Forced to hold hands is fully respected elder.

It is by nature to overwhelm that any elder,

Via a ground has forced his roots to spread,

Locked in place entraps an ever willing lilac,

With a hold, there is no letting go with needs,

To establish or impede, it is to place I dread,

She will quiver as the earth will move for her.

Virulent is virile, even when it's difficult for her

Easy steps I have prized for you my sweet elder,

Have we mingled with the possibility to spread

To other places, the pleasure is all ours, I dread,

I get carried away, my thoughts for your needs

One can go crazy when rubbed against the lilac.

Within the throws of mayhem, it's a gentle lilac

Whose exasperations they cannot stop for her,

It is I, who am overwhelmed, the primal needs

With sufficient flora she'll consume all an elder

Worthy pleads of despair are his she will dread,

That he'll cease to fall back with a finer spread?

Rumour has it that the elder and indeed the lilac

Are worlds apart the furthest point, she'll dread

To share alone the plead of their wanton spread.

Titus
Have you ever tried writing a sestina? The last three lines, [envoi], are usually given a different order to the words.
