BELIEF BATTERED

Tension erupts again
and she wonders why
She thought it would be different
to have this day pass by
without hidden agendas
and promises broken
without discontent
and words of love unspoken

The emotional upheavel
is making her insane
and she asks herself unendingly
how she ever came
to be in a place of demands
that are impossible to meet
picking up the leftovers
thrown at her feet

Words can injure just as much
as a fist is raised to harm
she watches gaining strength
but hiding in alarm
for the opportunity to walk away
never to return
She has discovered herself again.
new lessonS she has learned.
