Of Death

Of Death

A Poem by Tony Woods
"

Our final thoughts...

"

Of Death I contemplate the day,

a day I'll never know.

I wonder what I'll do or say,

just before I go.

The Outlaw stern and shallow,

had no regrets while living.

But when he stands upon the gallows,

will he still be unforgiving?

"Nearer My God to Thee" they wrought,

with solemn strings and bows.

I ask them of their final thought,

when the hull split and the Heavens glowed.

When, to us, our last day is brought,

the skies become our days.

What will be our final thought?

Before we drift away?
