Daisy-Chain Receptors

Daisy-Chain Receptors

A Poem by What happened to simple old me?

Give me a reason to follow in your footsteps. The last betrayal I felt,

you had me tethered to your ankle, soft and subtle

were your ways, intentional. Before that noon, a simplistic setting

along a river so well known. To both of us, what meaning

it may have held. I left a daisy there to wilter;

whom was that gentleman to pick it up that day

and like clockwork suggest, something had faded into death.

. oh, you are just one of the best poets on this site ... the way these lines unravel and the tone you write in are just remarkable ... those last two lines ... especially the image of "something fading into death" ... are amazing ...
