Sands

Sands

A Poem by What happened to simple old me?

There was only a jump when I wouldn't take it. Are those children the Devil, edging me towards the tip of a rock. Cradling my lost thoughts on their tongue, slipping them into my ear. Making my head crease and tense.
She walked away and sat out, hours passed. Similar onlookers peered on, different prerogatives. Faulty smiles passed as they tried to ease an unfamiliar pain. Like that of exaggeration, or a time-warp. The sea had me wrapped in a waxy sheen, stiffened and calm.
